I was involved in a task force meeting with Helen White and various working group members on Friday where they launched the COVID-19 – Guidance for Isolating in Apartments. They are far from perfect, and various points have already been flagged, however due to the urgency and ongoing concerns, these have gone live and they have asked for our feedback over the next 2 weeks, so any input welcome.

It was also agreed that more prior consultation would have been beneficial, however, this is an evolving situation, as will be the guidelines, including incorporating this weeks move to the Traffic Light System, which the team advised they have legal working on.

We have requested the guidelines be updated to allow covid positive residents the ability to ‘opt-in’ to disclosing to their fellow residents & Committees that they are self-isolating.  This being for the primary health & safety purpose of notification to other residents in the building that may be immune compromised & to ensure support from the communities.  I understand the Ministry of Health are investigating privacy issues with their legal team.

The SCA(NZ) exec have also created a taskforce to develop some guidelines for members around the upcoming traffic light system which we hope to release shortly.

Lots to navigate, and great to have the industry support to work through this together.

Warm Regards

Jo
